Lenten Series: "Cry to the Lord"

Lenten Evening Reflection:  "Cry to the Lord."

A conversation with  Dr. Chris Scharen, Professor of Worship at Luther Seminary.

Thursday, March 7:   7:00pm.  This session examines the character of God's listening, again, in the Psalms and other scriptures, in pop culture, and in our lives. The idea would be to sketch the range of our rage and sorrow held up before God, and the depth of God's ability and desire to be with us in our rage and sorrow, listening so deeply, so fully, that all heaven must keep silence.

A soup supper will precede the discussion at 6:00pm

J2A Fundraiser/Literary Dinner

he J2A youth group (grades 8 through 10) will be taking over the Drop-In Dinner on Sunday, March 3, to raise funds for the pilgrimage they're planning for the summer of 2014. The J2Aers will serve a delicious lasagna dinner. To make the occasion more festive, they'll be dressing up as their favorite literary characters, and they invite YOU to do the same!  Come as your favorite character or author and chat about the books you love. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a great meal, and celebrate your favorite stories with us

Easter Sunday

Join us for a Festival Eucharist, Easter morning, with joyful music at our regular worship time, 10:30am.  Our tradition includes a well-loved Easter Brunch before the service at 9:00am

The morning and evening services are combined today (there is no evening service on Easter Sunday)

Loaves & Fishes

St. Matthew’s is once again participating in project Loaves & Fishes on Sunday, August 25th.   Loaves & Fishes gives us the opportunity to share our time and food with those in need at the Dorothy Day Center in downtown St. Paul.  In the short span of four hours on a Sunday afternoon we will cook a complete meal and serve 250 to 330 people.  Over the years many families and friends have found Loaves & Fishes to be a great opportunity to work together as a team on a short but satisfying project.  Experience is not necessary!  All you need to be able to do is take direction from the crew coordinators and smile.

We need six to eight cooks and 14 servers for this effort to work well. Cooks are needed at the Dorothy Day Center at 2pm, and servers at 4pm.  Please sign up in the undercroft if you can help.  We also need 55 dozen cookies and bars.  You can either bring the cookies and bars to the Dorothy Day center, or leave them in the church kitchen on the morning of the 26th. Please mark your donations for Loaves and Fishes and indicate the amount of cookies or bars.  For more information, please speak with Dave McKenna.   Dave can be contacted at  david.mckenna94@gmail.com
