Thanksgiving Feast

Whether you’re new to St. Matthew’s or have been here for some time, you should plan to join us for our annual thanksgiving celebration.

Rosa Uy, our cook extraordinare, and her husband, Warren Poole, roast the turkey(s) and make the dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy.  Warren, the baker extraordinare, makes pumpkin and apple pies.  The rest of us are invited to bring vegetables and salads for the meal and hot and cold appetizers for coffee hour.

Everyone is welcome and especially anyone who would otherwise be alone on Thanksgiving.  So invite neighbors, friends, co-workers and come yourself with your family.  This is an opportunity to be a member of an extended church family!

We do like to know how many people are planning to come and what you plan to bring to share during coffee hour and the Thanksgiving feast.  Please email Marilyn Grantham at m.grantham@comcast.net with the #of adults, #of children under 12 years of age, and what food(s) you plan to bring to share.

Blue House Boutique

Since 2004, Blue House (blue-house.org) has been supporting orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda.  Founded by St. Matthew's Episcopal Church member, Beatrice Garubanda, the organization hosts its major fundraiser, the Blue House Boutique, on Saturday December 2 and Sunday December 3. The Blue House Boutique features new, handmade, reasonably priced local crafts and gifts from Uganda. Every bit spent at the boutique goes directly to support the children of Blue House.

Loaves and Fishes at Mary Hall

Prepare and serve an evening meal for those in need in downtown Saint Paul with Loaves and Fishes.

The St. Matthew's crew has responsibility for providing, preparing, and serving the food. Volunteers are needed roughly 2 hour shifts from 1 pm to 6 pm. This is a great way to celebrate community this Thanksgiving weekend. We will be preparing at the Catholic Charities Distribution Center at 341 Chester St. We will be serving at Mary Hall at 438 N. Main Street. Catholic Charities will provide transportation for the food. Prior experience is not necessary. You may also bake some cookies and bars to be taken in, if you do not have time to serve on Sunday.
