JLRC On The Hill: Experience the power of alignment!

I don't know about you, but I am a sucker for a good children's movie.  I especially love the scenes where a group of seemingly powerless characters coordinate and discovers that together they are unstoppable.

I think of that scene near the end of Finding Nemo where Dory discovers Nemo has been caught in a trawler's net.  Normally with thousands of fish in a net there's no hope, they all swim and wriggle their own way and they all end up in the boat- end of story.  But Dory has a different idea, she tells all the fish to swim down and she chants her encouragement until the collective force is enough to break the net and set them all free.

What if we, regular members of faith-based communities from all over Minnesota, could coordinate our efforts to make great things happen in our state to make our society more just and full of opportunity for all?

The Joint Religious Legislative Coalition (JRLC) researches pressing social justice issues in Minnesota, and then using interfaith religious principles and expert policy analysis, crafts position papers to make recommendations to the citizens of MN and the State Legislature.

The JRLC briefs participants on these social justice issues at their annual 'Day on the Hill' event Tuesday March 10th.  I hope you will join me for this exciting event that culminates in an opportunity to share the agenda and our thoughts with our legislators directly.

Among other items, the agenda includes an emphasis on supporting our most vulnerable families and ensuring all children get a great start, issues we care about deeply at St Matt's.
