St. Matthew's is blessed to have among its members a number of very talented and well-known artists who believe that art is a gift to be shared and an integral part of St. Matthew's ministries. The Undercroft Gallery is located in the first floor parish hall and the Art Ministry team organizes regular shows there by artists in a variety of media. Among these shows is the annual juried Community Art Show.
You may view the shows before and after Sunday services, and on Tuesday through Friday afternoons. St. Matthew's artists also create special pieces to enhance the worship of the church. For Lent 2007, twelve artists did the Stations of the Cross, now permanently installed in the worship space, and for Advent 2007, a group of St. Matthew's and Jewish artists developed multimedia illustrations of selected Psalms.
New this September will be a traveling exhibit, Titled, "Reconciling Through Art: Images of Iraq" This show will be an opportunity to learn more about this Middle Eastern country and the artists who continue to live and work there.
